These lights can be mounted anywhere in the truck bed although typical installation in on the underside of the bedrails. The lights are water and ice proof via a silicone coating protecting the lights. All ends are sealed with silicone to prevent damage to the strips from water and ice. Strips come with 3M adhesive backing on them to allow installation on any clean, dry surface. Each kit includes 4 20" strips (2 strips for each side of the bed) so it is the perfect size for installing in any truck bed. The 2 strips are connected with 16" of wire in-between them and have an additional 20' of wire connected for each side of the bed so you can install them however you would like. How you connect them is up to you making this kit and install very flexible. You can install them to turn on when you open the door, when you turn on the dome light, or you can add a switch and turn them on whenever you would like.
