The output protocol (connection to laptop) is USB. OBD-II Software for ELM327 is a free program that allows you to use your PC and a hardware interface to get the information from your car s computer.
Works with most and later OBD-II compliant US (from 1996), European (from 2004, trucks and vans from 2007) and Asian vehicles.
The software supports two platforms - DOS and Windows (not include Windows 7).
Support OBDII protocols: CAN, VPW, KWP, ISO9141, PWM
NOTE: Install and run the Scantool software on the computer, click on Options , and choose the same COM port as the one connects the computer, or the device cannot connect and test.

Functions:
1. Read diagnostic trouble codes, both generic and manufacturer-specific, and display their meaning (over 3000 generic code definitions in the database).
2. Clear trouble codes and turn off the MIL ("Check Engine" light)
