Lights flickering? "Bulb-out" warning light on the dash? The flickering is caused because the HID Xenon bulbs use less power than the original halogen bulbs. So your vehicle's computer senses the lower current, and thinks the bulb is out. This causes the "bulb-out" error warning on the dashboard. The computer also tries to rectify the situation by turning off and reigniting the lights, giving a strobing or flashing effect to the headlights. The warning canceller contains a resistor and capacitor which simulate the current load of a halogen bulb, thereby preventing any error message or flickering. Although this problem can arise in any vehicle with computer-controlled headlights, warning cancellers are most commonly needed for European cars such as BMW, Audi, Mercedes etc. and some American cars such as Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep etc.
