Each U.S. Navy art piece is printed one at a time and inspected by the artist, Britt Taylor Collins. After inspection this piece is signed by Britt himself. This particular piece was photographed by Britt Taylor Collins with the uniform from Torpedoman 2nd Class Richard Lillie, who served on the USS Bunker Hill when his ship was attacked by kamikaze pilots. Richard spent 3.5 hours in the Pacific watching fellow sailors perish by drowning or shark attacks. He was rescued at the last minute by George Mendonsa, the Portugese born skipper of the USS Sulivans. Mendonsa was later captured on film in Alfred Eisenstaedt's famous photograph, ""The Kissing Sailor"". Lillie's great, great, grandfather, John Lillie, was the first superintendent of West Point.
