This EMPI coupler features a heavy guage steel cage that is much stronger than the stock coupler and is popular in high performance applications. The strength and durability of Urethane will out-last and out-perform standard rubber products in every application. Install Urethane and never look back! Firms up shifting by taking any slack out of the shift rod rotation. This is the "late" style box coupler with the addition of a stronger steel cage. Super popular for Type 1 65-79, Ghia 65-74, all type 3, and all types of off-road vehicles, including Sand Rails, Buggies, and Baja Bugs that require the square coupler.
