As tradition at his home track, Valentino Rossi treated all of us at Misano to a new helmet featuring a cartoon like character created by Aldo Drudi. The nine times World Champion likened himself to a boxer hanging on to the ropes with his bruised face covered in plasters, missing a few teeth and sporting a black eye as if to parody his season so far. A battered but unbeaten Valentino asks: "How am I doing?" Even his faithful bulldogs Cesare and Cecilia are kitted out with boxing gloves on their paws, ready for the fight. It's a good metaphor - Valentino has taken more than his fair share of knocks of this season, but he's stayed on his feet in the middle of the ring and hasn't been knocked out.
