The Counterweight for Porter Cable 7424 XP and 7424 is designed for porter cables with 6 inch backing plates. Counterweights are essential to the balancing of the weight of the plate and the pad. Without balance, the porter cable will vibrate more, possibly rattle loose and will not work correctly. The right balance will reduce vibration and will prevent the unit from wobbling.
