In most subaru turbo vehicles the up pipe is the source of a large amount of heat under the engine bay. The blanket works by covering the up pipe to reduce the amount radiant heat under the hood. In most cases the install of the blanket is not terribly difficult even though the up pipe is in very precariuos place to get to... It will also work with a stock up pipe and all aftermarket up pipes even if they are equipped with an EGT bung or flex section. Thermal Zero blankets go above and beyond when it comes to heat tolerance and durability. The inner layer of the heat shield can handle over 2300 degrees Fahrenheit of direct heat. The blankets are made of ceramic insulation material and covered with a silicone based outer shell that is colored either Black, Red, Chrome, or Gray. Since vibration on a motor is inevitable we have created a more durable design. Our turbo shields feature a wire mesh inner layer that separates the insulation material from the turbocharger housing, greatly increasing durability and reducing breakdown.
