Pacific Coast Star's Progressive rated springs are the most advanced in the industry. Our Progressive rate spring provides a spring rate which progressively adjusts as needed from 825lb to 1250lb as you ride. Standard "straight weight" (or single rate) springs cannot come close to matching its performance, control and comfort. Progressive springs are not the same as a standard "straight weight" spring. Straight rate springs which are stiffer or heavier rated, offered by other companies, can help with load carrying capacity, but they greatly degrade your ride comfort and control when riding solo or unloaded. This is because a standard straight weight spring only delivers one spring rate unloaded or fully loaded (or compressed). While a straight weight spring may ride and feel fine when your bike is loaded, the stiffness of the spring will create a less comfortable ride, and diminished control when riding solo. Our Progressive spring offers a softer more controlled spring rate (825 lbs) when the bike is being ridden solo on a smooth road. This softer spring rate will absorb small and medium bumps much better than a more rigid straight rate spring. This softer rate also allows your wheel to stay more in contact with the road, and will provide a much more controlled rebound rate (or basically the speed at which the spring uncompresses to full length--- (or, how hard the spring tries to eject you off the bike!!!)). But when your bike is loaded (with a passenger, or luggage etc) the Progressive spring will automatically progressively increase its spring pressure as needed up to an incredible 1250 lbs. You don't need to do anything! The higher spring pressure provided will resist bottoming out, dive when hitting large bumps or in corners and rear end sagging. With our Progressive rate spring, you will definitely feel a noticeable improve your bikes control and comfort which no other spring can do.
