If you remove a bolted on windshield wiper a few months after the vehicle was built then it is usually not difficult to remove, but try removing the wiper arm two or three years after it was built. It can be almost impossible because manufacturers use one type of metal on the wiper arm and a different type of metal on the wiper post. Over a period of time a process known as galvanic corrosion occurs and creates a fusion between the post and the arm. In these situations you definitely need a windshield wiper arm removal tool. Equalizer®'s Model Specific Wiper Arm Removal Kit has a different puller for each type of vehicle and the puller contacts as much of the arm as possible to spread the removing pressure out over a large area. One really nice design feature of the kit is the slide impact hammer. To use it, attach a puller to the handle, slide the impact hammer up and hit the end stop. This is the equivalent to being able to hit the wiper arm from underneath and hammer it off. If the hammering action does not work you can switch over to the pressure spindle, which puts hundreds of pounds of pulling force on the wiper arm. The 6 wiper arm pullers included will fit specific model vehicles such as Alfa-Romeo, Audi, BMW, Citroen, Fiat, Ford, Honda, Jaguar, Mazda, MG-Rover, Mitsubishi, Chevrolet, Peugeot, Renault Volvo, VW, Mercedes and many others.
