Full synthetic oil cleans out engine sludge better than conventional and synthetic blend oils
Superior Active Cleansing Agents
Better for severe driving conditions than conventional and synthetic blend oils
Helps keep engines cleaner with better wear protection
Exceeds the most stringent car manufacturer requirements for cleanliness and protection
Pennzoil Platinum synthetic 5W-20 motor oil is a multigrade weight (viscosity grade) oil for use in gasoline engines in a variety of SUVs, light vans and trucks, and passenger cars in severe or high-temperature conditions. The synthetic formula helps prevent sludge build-up, provides more overall lubrication and wear protection, and increases gas mileage in comparison to conventional oils. 5W-20 weight is designed for both winter and summer temperatures and is distributed throughout the engine to ensure proper lubrication for the moving parts. It is thinner at colder temperatures than 5W-30 and 10W-30 grade oils. Synthetic oils provide thermal and oxidation stability for better performance between the recommend oil change intervals than what conventional oils offer. Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 synthetic oil meets internationally recognized standards and measures for quality assurance. The recommended oil for an engine is identified in the vehicle’s owner or service manual under specified operating conditions.

Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 synthetic oil meets or exceeds the standards and measures of American Petroleum Institute (API) SN and all previous categories; International Lubricants Standardization and Approval Committee (ILSAC) GF-5; and European Automobile Manufacturer’s Association (ACEA) A1-02. Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 also meets the following quality levels: General Motors (GM) 6094M, Ford WSS M2C945-A, and Chrysler MS-6395. These ensure uniform oil products at a given level or standard across the world and the marketplace in general.
Motor oil is made from crude oil and is used to lubricate, clean, and cool engines. Types of motor oil include synthetic, conventional, diesel, heavy-duty, racing, motorcycle, bio-based, and blends of conventional and synthetic. The types vary by additives or chemicals mixed into the base product and the refinement process itself, and these factors determine the cost, performance, and operating usage. In general, synthetic oils have higher overall performance than conventional oils for common automotive usage. Oils also differ by grade of viscosity (weight), which rates the oil performance characteristics under operating conditions. A numerical code system, established by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), grades motor oils according to viscosity characteristics. From low (thinner, easier to flow) to high (thicker, harder to flow) viscosity, the numbers range from 0 to 60 and can have a “W" suffix, which designates “winter" or cold-start viscosity at cold temperatures. Multigrade, or multiviscosity, oils have two numbers, with or without a “W" suffix after the first number, to indicate use in temperatures with significant differences. Monograde oils like SAE 30 are designed for constant high temperatures; the higher the number, the better performance at higher temperatures.
Pennzoil manufactures motor oil and car-care products. It is a brand of Royal Dutch Shell, founded in 1833, and headquartered in the Netherlands.
Motor oil is made from crude oil and is used to lubricate, clean, and cool engines. Types of motor oil include conventional, synthetic, diesel, bio-based, hybrid (blends of conventional and synthetic), and recycled oils. Motor oil varies in weight and viscosity, as well as additives that some manufacturers add to the oil during the refining process. A numerical code system created by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) grades motor oils according to viscosity--the higher the number between 0 and 60, the more viscous (thicker) the oil is. Most consumer motor oils are graded by two numbers, with the first number indicating cold weather (Winter or "W") performance.
SAE 5W-20
This oil has a weight of SAE 5W-20, meaning it has an SAE viscosity rating of 5 in cold temperatures and a rating of 20 at normal operating temperature. Always check your vehicle's owner's manual to verify that this is the correct weight of motor oil for your vehicle.
Full Synthetic Oil
This oil is a full synthetic oil, meaning crude oil is not used in making it. Synthetic oil can be used in vehicle engines instead of motor oils refined from crude oil, and often provides superior mechanical performance over traditional motor oil, including increased gas mileage and reduced engine wear at extreme temperatures. Its complex method of production means it can often cost more than conventional motor oil.
