Pennzoil Platinum synthetic 5W-20 motor oil is a multigrade weight (viscosity grade) oil for use in gasoline engines in a variety of SUVs, light vans and trucks, and passenger cars in severe or high-temperature conditions. The synthetic formula helps prevent sludge build-up, provides more overall lubrication and wear protection, and increases gas mileage in comparison to conventional oils. 5W-20 weight is designed for both winter and summer temperatures and is distributed throughout the engine to ensure proper lubrication for the moving parts. Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 synthetic oil meets or exceeds the standards and measures of American Petroleum Institute (API) SN and all previous categories; International Lubricants Standardization and Approval Committee (ILSAC) GF-5; and European Automobile Manufacturer’s Association (ACEA) A1-02. Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 also meets the following quality levels: General Motors (GM) 6094M, Ford WSS M2C945-A, and Chrysler MS-6395. These ensure uniform oil products at a given level or standard across the world and the marketplace in general.

This oil is a full synthetic oil, meaning crude oil is not used in making it. Its complex method of production means it can often cost more than conventional motor oil.
