Using the light check, one person can check the lights without having to plug in the tow vehicle to see if they are operational. Simply plug the 7 pin electrical cord from the front of the rig into the light check and the lights on the trailer will come on. The clearance lights will stay on. The signal lights and turn signals will flash so you can determine if everything is ok. Light check uses the charged trailer battery to energize the lights. This is an invaluable tool for anyone, especially the RVer who travels alone or whose companion is unable to assist in the connection process. The safety plug aspect of the light check comes into play when the RV breaks down and needs to be left on the side of the road. Leaving a vehicle with no lights on is dangerous.
