The Starter Solenoid is a relay. When it receives a low amperage signal from the starter button on the Right Bar Switch, it opens a high amperage connection, allowing current to flow from the battery to the Starter.
All used Starter Solenoids are thoroughly tested before they are placed in inventory. The part will be undamaged and electrical connections will be clean.
