Our long blocks are remanufactured to exacting tolerances utilizing state-of-the-art equipment. All blocks, crankshafts and cylinder heads are thermally cleaned then shot blasted. All core components are then magnafluxed to confirm their integrity prior to moving to their machining departments, and all connecting rods are chemically cleaned then checked for straightness and integrity. The block is bored to the next available size and honed to an exacting crosshatch to ensure proper oil control. The crankshaft rod and main journals are ground to the next available size, all oils holes are chamferred and the journals are polished to a micro finish. Cylinder heads are checked for hardened seats and replaced as required while the valve guides are reamed +.015 to receive a new valve with a +.015 oversize stem. The tops of the guides are machined to receive a positive valve stem seal. The seats then receive a three angle cut and are vacuum checked to ensure a proper seat finish, the cylinder heads are then surfaced, washed and prepared for assembly. Our cylinder heads are assembled with all new components, including valves, springs and keepers, then vacuum-checked again to prove a proper seat. The pistons are hung on the rods utilizing gas heat, the rings are installed with pliers. The short block is then assembled with new rod and main bearings, cam bearings, freeze plugs and galley plugs, camshaft and timing components. It is then moved to the long block department where the cylinder heads are mated to the block and torqued to specifications. New rockers, balls, nuts, lifters and pushrods are installed and adjusted. We then validate compression on each cylinder, oil pressure and flow at multiple RPMs. We also verify that the rear main seal and oil galley plugs are not leaking and perform a final valve adjustment. The engine is double bagged and crated for shipping. Each long block comes with a full set of gaskets, and most come with an oil pump.
