The Edelbrock/Russell Manifold Adapter Fittings are meant to be used while adapting metric size hoses to standard NPT (National Pipe Tapered) inlets/outlets. They eliminate having to force the hose over an oversized barb or excessive over-tightening of the worm gear clamp to achieve a positive seal.
