Our shift lock design allows for changing gears without moving the crank handle from shaft to shaft. Just lift the shift lock and slide the shaft into the desired gear position. Shift lock holds the shaft in gear. Neutral, free-wheel position allows quick line pay out without spinning the handle. Our ratchet pawl also has a convenient neutral position. The 2-speed T3700 0101 Winch is equipped with one fast speed for quick pull-ins and one low speed for increased mechanical advantage with heavy loads. The winch's shift lock design allows users to change gears without moving the crank handle from shaft to shaft--simply lift the shift lock and slide the shaft into the desired gear position and the shift lock holds the shaft in gear. The winch's neutral, free-wheel position allows for quick line pay out without spinning the handle and the ratchet pawl is also equipped with a convenient neutral position. How to Select the Correct "T" Winch Capacity:

Minimum winch capacity = maximum weight of boat including motor, fuel, and gear divided by 2. For example: boat, motor, fuel, gear weight = 2800 pounds; 2800 pounds / 2 = 1400 pounds; select the T Winch rated at 1,500 pounds.
